That's it.
I just thought it was an interesting bit of info (I was reading wikipedia all morning (my new addiction)) and found that article on the 1952 Senate Election that I thought you guys might find interesting.
No statement to make here.

Kennedy hosting a job fair to find his personal mistresses and calling it a tea party is unrelated to the Glenn Beck job fairs we see today.

The thing is, they're rather hard to find.  When I first heard of the "tea party" some eight months or so ago, I went on line to try to find my local chapter.  They sounded like they had some excellent ideas--and a few wacky ones, but on balance I figured I'd have a bit in common with them--and wanted to go to one of their bitchfests, but there really isn't a "tea party."  It's just a loose collection of individuals who occasionally influence elections or rally on the DC Mall.  It's not as easy as finding an AA meeting or something.  You don't just look in the phone book under Cedar Falls Local Chapter Tea Party.

I guess one could get on a spamming list to be informed of local events, but I'm not sure I'd want to do that.

I am sure that several politicians have used the term "tea Party" to describe rallies. No doubt countless of mayors of Boston and City council members probably used it in the 1800's.

Programming alert:  speaking of things both festive and rightist, the Log Cabin Republican National Dinner is on C-SPAN just now, and they're giving the Spirit of Lincoln Award to Joseph Cao (R-LA).  He's giving a little acceptance speech.  Not a bad speech.   Not riveting, but humble and honest.

The British taxed tea. Drunkards dumped tea into Boston Harbor.

Now, current tea party dumped tea... just not into Boston Harbor.

I guess back then the South was trying to be their own country, now they're trying to take over the rest of the country lol.  I like to compare the Tea Party to the Confederacy, or other not so good things.
