If Trump is doing this then perhaps Biden should hold an event in West Virginia. Couldn't hurt.

But the true equivalent of this would be him doing a rally in southern WV. I don't think Biden would get the huge influx of attendees from more liberal parts of the state to cover up the negative reception he would get in Mingo county.
He could go to Morgantown or Charleston.

Trump will never accept that nor will the party. They will stand behind him even if convicted.

Most “Christian” schools in the south were founded by wealthy whites to keep their kids away from black.

I know most of my aunts/uncles were sent to one for that exact reason when schools were forced to integrate. Even while the school was 30-40 minutes away.

As the article said, they are usually worse than public schools. I got a much better education at a public school then when I was at a private “Christian” one, which is saying a lot for the rural south.

Are these schools as academically rigorous as the Catholic Prep Schools, the mainline protestant schools, and the old old school elite academies ?

To give you some perspective, most of these are extremely unregulated. I had a math teacher who was just some person they found and I had a quiz that about half of the test was extra credit nonsense questions cause she knew she taught so poorly.  She had to prior experience or training as a teacher.

I agree it would be amazing; greed is a massive idol in this country and nobody seriously questions it. Who among us could be the widow giving her entire livelihood? Certainly not I.

I bring it up because by the standards of the FB post Lyndon shared he would be forced to also condemn that message, as it is telling others how to live (or I suppose, "controlling" them). If that was his point, he did not communicate it well. Wink

If they start putting their money where their mouth is (like they do decades now with abortion and gay rights) then we'll see.

Also, LOL at the idea that this guy is "communicating Christian teachings." If this greedy, good for nothing, brain-dead whoremonger is representative of Christianity then that religion will be dead soon in this country.

I definitely don't think it's Michigan, judging by uncommitted's results.

Looking at the zoom ins for Arizona (and Clark County NV), it seems like total donations are decreasing/increasing in the same Metro Las Vegas zip codes for both candidates, with a southwest (less) vs northeast (more) divide.
Trump has gained relative to Biden in NV because his gains in the North and East parts of Vegas are greater than Biden's, even though his losses in the South and Southwest are also larger than Biden's.

Anyone that thinks the Republican Party is going to recover with women after Trump is a fool. This is obviously the future of conservatism. It's geared almost exclusively to insecure men.

How about this -Donald Trump (and other members of his family who wish to join him) accept the offer of permanent exile to any country in the world that would tolerate them, surrendering their U.S. passports in the process -and their citizenship. Law enforcement would leave them be, and not petition the country they pick for their extradition. If he ever returns, he would be arrested. In addition, Trump would hand over all remaining documents he took from the White House, to be overseen by a Biden-appointed representative.

This puts the debate over school vouchers in a whole new light for most of us here:

You mean because if there were school vouchers, these schools would be less white?  They aren't "segregation academies" if they have non-white students, as the article admits they do.

Most “Christian” schools in the south were founded by wealthy whites to keep their kids away from black.

Wealthy whites don't have to send their kids to black schools because they can just move to places that don't have many black people. Most Christian school families aren't particularly wealthy, certainly not compared to those who go to secular private schools.

An important confounder in all this discussion is that the era of school desegregation coincided to a large degree with the era of school secularization with ending things like teacher-led prayer in school, both results of the Warren Court. So you can't look at a private Christian school that starts in the South in the 60s or 70s and assume that reaction to civil rights must have been the motivation.
