They also added the rest of the Pacific, does that include the West Coast as well?

Hawaii is currently the only state with a warning.

Warning for Mexico, Peru, and Chile, but not the West Coast or Alaska? OK.

The coastal U.S. and Canada get their warnings issued by the West Coast/Alaska Tsunami Warning Center (WC/ATWC).  The rest of the Pacific is issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC).  Different forecasters have differnent opinions on whether or not it should be issued.

Well, even better, the warning has been extended to Antartica, but not the West Coast. What a joke.

Just got this:

Crazy.

A warning is more serious than a watch.

Watch: The west coast, and parts of Alaska
Warning: a ton of places, including freaking Antarctica

Yeah, this isn't winning any awards for consistency.

Well, there was $15 million in damage to boats in Santa Cruz. Basically every dock was destroyed in Crescent City. The tsumani even hit Emeryville, which is in the East Bay.

Japan just had another Earthquake, this one a 6.6 magnitude.

Holy sh*t...........
it sucks to be Japan right now.  God help those people.

Those aren't so bad if you're not that near them. The power is proportional to the 10^(1.5*magnitude), or roughly 32^magnitude, so a 6.6 is over 1000 times weaker than the 8.8.

Anyways, they already had a 7.1 a couple of days ago, and a 7.2 aftershock, but again those are hundreds of times weaker.

Radiation increasing.  All workers evacuated.  Japanese government - Fox

This has to be a full meltdown.

What can be done?  Dump stuff from above (via heliocopter?)

Nothing, for now.  Let it meltdown, which might stop the reaction.

The US should send all of their unmanned drones from Afghanistan or whereever to drop coolants. We could do something useful with the hundreds of billions a year that we waste on these dumb wars.

A literal drop in the bucket.  Each one would probably carry less than 100 gallons of water.

I was thinking about fire boats, but I don't know if they'd have the range.

They are considering helicopter drops, but I'd suspect you'd need thousands.

I know that it's not the most efficient, but it's far more useful than what we're using them for now.
