Biden intimated at times that he would be a bridge to a new era for Democrats. There was speculation that after his goal of defeating Trump, he'd pass the baton to a younger, fresher face in 2024.

However as we know, Harris is an unpopular VP. I don't think it's a hot take to argue she'd get absolutely roasted if she was the nominee in November.

HOWEVER

If Biden had picked a more popular or more well liked VP, do you think he still would've run for a second term?

I doubt it. I really think the solid 2022 midterms solidified him running for re-election the most.

We have at least three different variations of this thread on the board right now, is another really necessary? Biden is not dropping out, Harris is not being replaced.

If Harris was running against a senile man who falls asleep and can't form a sentence then I would bet on Harris without a doubt.

By all indications, this is what Joe Biden has always wanted, and he probably picked Harris in part because she helps to protect him from pressure to turn down a chance at a second term.

He has to take his base into consider first, Harris was picked because of concerns over Susan Rice and she had sky high Approval. The Veep powers are limited anyways that's what the Framers wanted, vote in S in a tie and do what Prez wants them to do

Biden.had to struggle to get nominated it took Obama to save him, Biden suffered low Approvals as Veep that's why Rs swept us in 2010/14 Midterms it was the R party pre J6

No, the better-than-expected 2022 midterm results and Trump running again are the reasons why Biden is running for re-election.

If one or both don't happen (especially the latter), I think that most likely Biden wouldn't have run for re-election.

No, obviously not. Biden was always going to run for re-election because it’s his first term as president and that’s what every president does.

No. Biden was never going to seriously entertain not running for reelection

Biden has no clue what’s going on - he’s doing and saying what his handlers want him to. Biden is a pathetic narcissist, and a very angry old man - he’s not decent, nice, or any other synonym.

The ageism, sexism and racism is off the charts when people talk about this duo.

As an incumbent President, Biden has every right to run for reelection, as nearly every other incumbent President in modern history has done. So what if Biden is 81? If his doctor has given him a clean bill of health then why shouldn’t he run?

Meanwhile, all Kamala is guilty of is being a smart, confident, ambitious person, but I guess that’s a criminal offense for women in our society. She has been a dutiful VP and fulfilled her constitutional responsibilities (like breaking ties in the Senate), which is really all we should expect from our VP since the role is so nebulous. But on top of that, she is regularly tapped to tackle some of the toughest challenges and does her best. What more do people want??
