If the prosecution didn't meet their burden of proof showing that Trump was the one who directed the falsification of the business records, then the defense did it for them: "Our issue is to get Cohen on the right page without giving the appearance that we are following instructions from Giuliani or the President" is corroboration of the cover-up being done knowingly by & per Trump. Couple Costello's crapshoot with the prior-admitted corroborating documentation as to the Weisselberg scheme & the fact that Trump signed the invoiced checks, & I think the likeliest outcome is that jurors will be convinced by the prosecution's case that Trump knew exactly what was happening, & why. I genuinely still can't believe the defense nonsensically allowed Costello to mess things up. There's a reason I begged for it!

Imagine being too right-wing and insane for even Le Pen.

Le Pen's Rassemblement National (France's right-wing populists) is cancelling their cooperation with the German far-right AfD in the European Parliament. This follows a rift after news reports in January of the AfD discussing 'remigration' of foreigners, including naturalized German citizens. The final straw was the AfD's leading candidate for the EU parliamentary elections, Maximilian Krah, saying that not all SS members were bad. Krah is currently under investigation for taking bribes from Russia and China. A senior staffer of him has already been arrested for being a suspected Chinese spy.

The video you linked even says it refers to WW1 Imperial Germany not Nazis. Trump's family faced discrimination in America for their German heritage back in day. This is a reach anyway, you have to squint to actually see it too.

People experienced discrimination for all sorts of things in those days, including being "white trash".

Much of what was said about German-Americans was also said about Jews. The Ashkenazim were probably more like German-Americans than any other ethnic group in culture. You know how it goes if you are a German-American: you will experience antisemitic bigotry at some point in your life. I had a persistent detractor on the Web who accused me of all the classic defamations of Jews. I chose to attack those defamations against Jews, and I found that he was attacking Jews in this supposed defense of Germans and German-Americans. Well, I have often confused Jews and German-Americans, and I fit a few Jewish stereotypes, including cultural and ethical values that I consider virtues and not vices. I finally hit him for attacking someone that he thought that he was protecting from harsh Jewish judgment. I have never had problems with Jews. Of course I have also made clear that I hate Nazis for doing bad things to innocent people, the definitive evil of Nazism.

I told him that if I had to choose between being a Jew and a Nazi I would convert to Judaism because I could keep more of my culture intact and abandon no morals. Too bad about pork and shellfish.

Hm, I wonder who made this thread.

yeah go figure.

And I'll do it again!

I guess my natural question for you is - why don't you care about this?

This guy is a troll. He changes his persona every time he comes back here. Next time he'll be posting about how Nazi Republicans don't care about democracy or something. The mods don't ban him because they do nothing to combat spam on this forum.

Ben Gvir should be nowhere near power and is a disgrace to any country. He is a complete detriment to the peace process.

Sorry leftists, that doesn't mean eliminating the country of Israel is the solution. And yes, that is what you want.

Israel is the only country in the world where this hysteria is entertained among otherwise sane people and it drives me bananas. It's a goddamn nuclear power, it's not going anywhere. Imagine if every post condemning Putin and/or Russia immediately devolved into an argument about Russia's "right to exist."

Along with other beacons of democracy like North Korea, Russia, Libya and China we aren't part of the ICC anyway, so Biden should've just stayed quiet as others have already suggested.

US taxpayers get fleeced to finance Netanyahu's genocide and meanwhile we're also told that having any opinion on the matter is unacceptable.

Nothing new for Americans unfortunately, but Israel is cooked in the court of public opinion on this matter and it's hilarious to see it's defenders flip from 'Law and Order' at home to 'Abolish the ICC' abroad.

International law is not the same as domestic law and absolutely does not supersede domestic law .

At some point within human civilization hopefully there will be such mechanisms, because that is the only real way that tyrants will ever be held to account.

No it absolutely does not . Literally the only way to hold them to account is to completely defeat them in war and then they will be tried with war crimes regardless of whether there is an international court or not .  All these international institutions do is stifle democracies and by that I just don’t mean the ICC but WTO , UN and other organizations too . Liberal internationalism simply does not work as for it to work at its core you need these things to be true :

- Enforcement mechanisms without going to war . This is simply not possible on an international stage while it obviously is at a domestic one

- Similar economic systems and fundamentals . This obviously isn’t the case

- Some cultural similarities. Laws are based on culture and for something like international law to work you need to have cultural similarities which obviously doenst exist at a global stage .

Are we assuming that will be allowed? Isn't the charge solely a felony one?
I don’t know the ins and outs of New York criminal procedure, but generally in most jurisdictions either side in a criminal case can ask that the jury be instructed to consider a “lesser included offense” if they find a defendant not guilty (or are hung) on the charged offense.

In Texas courts, the prosecution always has the option of requesting the instruction on a lesser-included offense. Likewise, the defense can get the instruction in (even if the prosecution doesn’t want it) if the court finds that there’s evidence from which a rational jury could find the defendant guilty of only the lesser offense.

EJ24 mostly sums up what I feel about this trial as well. The standard of reasonable doubt definitely comes into play when the prosecution's key witness openly admits to stealing $60.000 from the person he's testifying against because, at that time, he hated him enough to do it. And perhaps more...

Paul Manafort was convicted even though Rick Gates, the star witness against him, stole $3 million from Manafort (and this did come out during the trial).
