I would think that otters would rather have people with their guns sitting in class than out hunting.

"Common sense" seems to be a PC wording of "I don't need to be rational or think critically about the issue and therefore will avoid saying anything of substance".

I mean, if you're in a business meeting and you gotta tell your bud some insider info so as to manipulate the market for your gain, I guess it's okay then.

Solar energy is a terrible idea because it is a finite resource. If we switch to solar, the sun will eventually burn out and we will all be bathed in darkness.

When I think of over-sensitivity and trying too hard to be inclusive, I definitely think of the Third Reich.

California Gubernatorial Primary, 2014

The California primary proved extremely contested, with 4 major party candidates garnering a significant level of support. The early frontrunner was Congressman Napoleon, a Bay Area resident with heavy backing from the tech industry, running on a socially liberal and "fiscally responsible" platform (legalized drugs, balanced budget, tax cuts, etc.). He managed to get Green Party leader A Person as his running mate in order to broaden his base. However, his right-wing stances convinced Labor activist TNF from the Central Valley to jump in the race. Stirring workers to revolt against Big Money's attempt to control California politics, TNF managed to receive garner strong support. Another Democrat, LA city councilor Windjammer, mounted with his friend Adam Fitzgerald a maverick candidacy, championing left-wing economics and conservative social policies (notably virulently opposing drug legalization). On the other side of the aisle, Moderate Republican Goldwater managed to reignite support for the moribund CAGOP, and formed an alliance with Libertarian leader ElectionsGuy. On Election Day, Goldwater came ahead, running high in Southern California and in the in the northern hinterland. In an upset, TNF came clearly ahead of Napoleon and qualified for the General Election, backed by a coalition of Central Valley populists and Bay Area liberals.

Goldwater / ElectionsGuy (Republican/Libertarian): 34.6%
TNF / Sawx (Democratic): 28.5%
Napoleon / A Person (Democratic/Green): 22.8%
Windjammer / Adam (Democratic): 14.1%

California Gubernatorial Election, 2014

In the general election, Goldwater is unable to fight the State's political gravity, although he manages to perform decently for a republican. TNF takes most of Windjammer's votes, and though several Napoleon voters turn to Goldwater, manages to win a clear victory.

TNF / Sawx (Democratic): 54.3%
Goldwater / ElectionsGuy (Republican/Libertarian): 45.7%

I hope that those voting AYE on putting back in the wording they just voted to remove at least recognize the irony of their position, given the subject: you change your minds now so that you wont be able to change your minds on some final vote.

What disgusting results. Half the forum is literally just fine with killing millions of people, so long as they get health care out of it when they turn 65.

Why is FDR sending American citizens to concentration camps solely because of their race (and killing thousands in the process) any different? I have yet to see any FDR FF/LBJ HP voters address this.

Obviously FDR only sent them there so that the Japanese-Americans could unionize.  Only a war-mongering corporate shill like you would ever criticize such a heroic action!

An atheistic pro-life argument is can most certainly be formulated.  I, at a young age, subscribed to one.  However, I am pro-choice now because of a few key reasons.  Note: (I'm against any form of abortion that involves extracting a viable infant and killing it anyway, but things like partial-birth abortion are so rare I find it negligible when talking about the issue in general)

1. I fail to see how it is something that can be regulated by the government.  It's not like abortion didn't happen before Roe v. Wade.  It did, and the outcome was often horrifying.

2. I very much understand that it is a living homo sapien.  I also understand that it has never seen a thing, barely heard a thing, barely felt a thing, and has an "experience" that is so limited that it is unimaginable.  I'm not willing to give this life form a status equal to myself, or my friends, or my family.  I would consider this to be true up until the 3rd trimester or so.

3. I'm not a woman.

EDIT: and hell... I really just don't care about this for the most part.  It does not horrify me when I hear about a woman getting an abortion.  I do not judge it.  I do not ask why or worry why.  For me, it's so so so so so damn personal that my judgment has absolutely no place.
