Chris McDaniel would probably win barring any major gaffes, but his margin of victory would be close to the one that Trent Lott received in 1988 against Wayne Dowdy (54-46). Still, that margin would be an significant improvement for a Democratic candidate in Mississippi, as Thad Cochran was re-elected with 62% of the vote in 2008 and Roger Wicker was re-elected with 57% of the vote in 2012.

I personally would enthusiastically vote for Childers in this scenario, but McDaniel would probably win. I am so glad that Cochran won the runoff.

Cochran's still showing signs of dementia, and McD looks ready to go off the deep end, there's still a path for Childers.

Plus many McDaniel voters will probably be to angry at Cochran to show up for the general. This race should remain as Likely Republican.

Probably closest margin for Cochran yet, but Cochran will win easily nevertheless.

I'm not ready to write off Childers yet, seeing as it looks as if McDaniel won't go away quietly.
