The Fugs - Kill For Peace
The Screamers - 122 Hours of Fear
Jesus Christ Superstar - What's the Buzz

I caught the first few songs from the film version of Jesus Christ Superstar yesterday, being Easter and all. Much to my surprise, the role of Jesus on the LP is sung by none other than Ian Gillan of Deep Purple fame. Never knew this!

Wow, fantastic selections rejectamenta - I've posted tons of Fugs items in this thread.  But I had never heard of The Screamers!  Lovely.

ScreaminŽ Jay Hawkins - Take Me Back To My Boots And Saddle
The Screamers - Punish or be damned (1977)

Messer Chups - Shadow of your smile
Messer Chups - Vincent Price Bible
Run Wrake - Rabbit (2005)

Ok the last one is really an animated short, not a song.

On the radio currently

Fire and Rain - James Taylor

I just don't like his verison. I much prefer R. Dean Taylor's version. It just sounds better.

R. Stevie Moore - Beat Hemisphere (1984)
Paul Whiteman and his Ambassador Orchestra - The Japanese Sandman (1920)
R. Stevie Moore - I Don't Try Anymore (1981)

I'm going to angle for some feedback on the R. Stevie Moore - I've posted dozens of his songs on here, and I love him, but no one's ever said anything.  The above two are certainly not his best, (maybe Benefit of the Doubt, or Part of the Problem or Little Man, or Cool Daddio is his best, in my opinion, but he has many great ones). A real DIY gem.

Buffalo Tom - Mineral

I'm pretty convinced now this is where the band Mineral got their name from.

opebo do you like Buffalo Tom? You're about the right age and demographic.

Seeing them was kind of odd, it was the only show I've ever been to where there were people who could conceivably have kids who could also legally attend the show present. During their set all the youngs (The cutoff age for this group is about 35, so a bit older than one often considers it), got up front standing up drinking beers and rocking out (even though they're not exactly rock out music, keep in mind this was mostly more jumping around a lot than moshing), while the olds sat in the back at their tables (this venue was one that frequently also hosts Mikado-type musicals so there's a lot of tables like a restaurant), just sipping their beers.

Not really my style.  Also I never heard of them till you posted them.  They sound a little like Uncle Tupelo or something like that, which I also don't dislike, just not my thing really.

Mayer Hawthorne - Thin Moon
Basement Jaxx - "Hush Boy"
Eddie Meduza - Young girls and Cadillac cars

A lot of Corb Lund and a lot of Wilf Carter, in honor of the Canadian federal election. And I included Breakfast in Hell on account of its Canadian setting.

Trying to think of some Canadian punk or (non country) indie band to put next... can't think of anything right now. Light rockish entertainment, aye. Loads.

In honor of my birthday, I'm Eighteen - Alice Cooper

He's got a free concert here this summer.  Have to make sure I don't miss that.

Shuffling through Clapton's unplugged album at the moment.

Rhythm of the Rain - The Cascades

I am not a big fan of the corny love songs from the late 50's and early 60's but this one is different for some reason.

I was actually trying to make a Canadian playlist for last night but I ended up just listening to Buffalo Tom the whole time. Besides the blatantly obvious Arcade Fire there's By a Thread, Moneen, Grade, Cursed, Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Flatliners, Living With Lions, Propaghandi, The Weakerthans, Fifth Hour Hero, Breakwater, Republic of Freedom Fighters*, One Eyed God Prophecy, Jonah, Drift (the last couple are mostly very obscurish emo I doubt anyone else here is familiar with granted.)

*I though this band has the most forum-esque name ever. It is so awesome in that. BTW they don't sound anything like you'd think a band with a name like that would sound like. They were one of those 90s emo/hardcore bands that was so humorless and artsy that you can't be certain they weren't a stealth parody.

I know that there is no way you found this band besides my last.fm.

Oh and how the hell did I forget Boys Night Out?! They are my most played one on last.fm after all.

90125 is possibly my favorite album ever recorded.

Listening to Andy Mckee.. Unless someone likes acoustic guitar pieces they probably won't know who this is.
