Opinion of Israel's alliance with apartheid South Africa

"Freedom alliance" is probably a bit much, but I understand why this was in the strategic interest of Israel and I do not expect any country to act against its strategic interests. In and of itself, a country acting in its own strategic interests isn't automatically morally right, of course. However, since I personally consider it moral for Israel to be as strong and as safe as possible, I do think it was morally right for Israel to do this.

Also, lol @ people who are horrified by South Africa doing nuclear tests yet embrace the current Iranian regime, which gives gay people lashes and hangs them.

Kind of sad, considering that the Israelis knew at least a version of Apartheid or Apartheid-like policies in Germany just a few decades before (even during Weimar Germany, if I recall correctly). You'd think they'd know not to ally with someone that reminded them of that.

Horrible alliance, for sure. Apartheid-era South Africa was a disgusting state. Essentially ugly realpolitik akin to a lot of the anti-communist alliances the US made during the cold war.

I'm willing to give Israel a lot of leeway in terms of finding any alliance it could against the exterminationists, given that its enemies gleefully allied with the likes of Stalin and the Kims.

I was going to vote Horrible Alliance, but I won't give the Israel-bashers any joy.

Clearly, questionable judgement on Israel's part, but considering how the Muslim countries in Africa isolated Israel, I do not blame them for aligning with them.
