The Obama administration claims that there is a shortage of Americans with certain skills. Now. In 2009.

Well, there's certainly a shortage of American politicians who don't lie to screw American workers. Maybe they should be replaced with H-1Bs.

I must differentiate between highly skilled and educated workers going through the legal process to come to this country where there is indeed a shortage of skilled American workers in certain specialties, and the policy of the Bush administration to grant amnesty to low skilled/poorly educated persons who illegally enter the country.

Unfortunately, there are a few such fields at this time.

Now, I agree with you that employers should be compelled to show that they have exhausted every reasonable avenue to hire American workers who are qualified to perform a job before they can hire foreign nationals under the H-1B program.

I also believe the program should be heavily audited (at employer expense), and any employer who abuses the system to hire foreign workers when qualified Americans are available should not only be permanently banned from the program, but should also be heavily fined,
