That's good that Gillibrand is doing this, with all do respect, Van Hollen is a fundraising machine, Dems need him, if they want to compete in future Senate races. As Van Hollen spearheaded the House congressional committee as well.

If Robin Kelly gets into ILL race, then there may be a chance to get these two women elected to senate. But, the status quo candidates may win, due to party leaders, not outside groups' influence.

I would also like to see a primary poll in MD and IL.

Gillibrand has been a welcoming surprise, one of my favorite senators.

Now, the Leader Reid is out the way, Edwards will have momentum in building her profile in running for Senate. Best wishes to her

This makes no sense.

I guess he means that somehow Reid was opposing Edwards? But Reid is still going to be involved in the 2016 Senate elections anyway.

Pelosi most likely wants him as her successor. At the moment she's just waiting out Hoyer. It's kind of mystifying that he's choosing to give that up. Even if you're one of those silly people that think Democrats won't regain the House a single time in 20+ years, even minority leader is arguably a more important/powerful position than a Senator.

Good points. Maybe Van Hollen thinks (assuming he wins) he could climb up Senate leadership?

Yeah, either that or presidential ambitions would be a good explanation.

Just viewed his wikipedia article, Van Hollen was born in Pakistan. No way the GOP would ever let that slide in a Presidential Election.

^His father was in the Foreign Service, and his mother worked for the CIA. I think he should be able to run, if he wanted?

His parents were American diplomats/officials, there's nothing for even the most die-hard conservative to be mad about.

Yeah I know, just joking around haha. It still amuses me that the birther movement is still a thing in some circles.

I wonder what his angle is? Maybe he runs as "in between" Edwards and Van Hollen?

Hogan won in a GOP wave. Unless Bernie Sanders is nominated; this seat will go just like Ca, handily to Dems.
Blk turnout in Prince George & Montgomery Cnty will be safe.

She isn't going to win, but she may be able to get within 10 points and trick Democrats into spending some money here.

Democrats aren't going to be spending money in Maryland in a presidential year.
