What exactly is Carson's appeal, I mean I would think Ted Cruz would have the far-right locked up, is it because of his "outsider" status?

I'd imagine Carson would be siphoning mainly from Cruz's base.

But I would think they would find Cruz more viable or polished than a some-dude who decided that he wants to play president

Yeah, I'm not sure. Maybe Carson "proves they're not racist" and they think he can win a chunk of the black vote?

That campaign will not make it past the third major primary.

Of course he won't, but I predict he'll lead in the polls at least once.

He already is tied for the lead in some polls, I don't understand how. He has no administrative (I know about his medical achievements but c'mon) or political experience. I'm surprised the average Republican primary voter knows who he is.

The average one probably doesn't. But when you have a clown car so big that you can lead with only 15%...
