It's easy enough to 'excuse' monogamy, since it is currently normative and if anything needs to be made more normative than it already is.

Obviously it's not practical or pragmatically desirable to exclude all admitted or proven adulterers from high office or other trusted positions, as much as we might like to, but this instance is particularly egregious, both because of the sheer number of amoral, perverted-in-a-boring-way (straight adultery is undoubtedly the most tiresome form of sexual deviance in existence), overly powerful white people involved and because Broadwell ended up with classified material.
