With Paul opposing both Bolton and Giuliani, would be hard to see either get out of the committee.

Rudy is kind of meh, but I'm definitely with him on Bolton. Ultimately I think Rand wavers and votes to confirm Rudy. He's going to be resolutely opposed to the monster with the mustache.

I'm honestly surprised Rand was allowed on the Foreign Relations Committee. I assume the GOP believed that he would be targeting Democrats allowing them to gain some spurious anti-interventionist cred

I think it also had to do with McConnell being utterly terrified of him. McConnell backed him in 2016 and desperately needed his endorsement in 2014 to survive Bevin.

Rooting for Khalilzad, Haass, or, of course... Huntsman.

Eh, I'd rather not have Rudy at AG.

Another one who I doubt could make it through the Senate.

Let's see if Rand shows enough spine to actually vote against them.

also, in a sigh of relief, Mike McCaul, pretty conservative Republican but generally not a fascist, is interested in the Homeland Security job. I hate rooting for McCaul, but anything to prevent god damn David Clarke or Joe Arpaio.

Khalilzad for State, Ayotte for Defense, Yoo for AG, Grenell for UN Ambassador, Clarke for DHS...

Trump: "I have the best diversity!" (Clarke would be bad, though)

This is legitimately terrifying. Doesn't he have links to literal eugenicists or something?

Richard Grenell and Zalmay Khalilzad are two of the most important foreign policy figures. I would be very, very, very impressed if they were picked for State, Nationals Security Advisor, or U. N. Ambassador.

Yes, he somehow seems to believe that he's qualified to be President of the United States, but not qualified to run any of the Cabinet departments.

Don't count on the Senate GOP standing up to Trump appointments. Rand Paul can posture right now, but he will be pressured into submission.

The GOP put fycking Trump hats on the chairs of their conference. In their minds he saved them and brought them into more power than they've ever had before. They will cuck, it is only a matter of time.

Why isn't Huntsman being bandied about for State?

He was a fairly tepid supporter. I think he'd be a good pick, but he's too establishment to roll out right away (have to float Bolton longer in order to appease both the base and terrify the Senate) before he can smoothly get Huntsman out there.
