Earvin "Magic" Johnson (b. 1959) would be a decent choice for president in 2020 for the Democratic Party. Who cares if he has never served political office in his life. After his historic career as a basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning 5 NBA titles (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988), 12-time NBA All Star, plus a NCAA champion in college in (1979), he is also the president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers. He is the co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Sparks, plus the Los Angeles Football Club.

He is an entrepreneur, he is an inspiring figure, especially for African American voters. Would he be a good presidential candidate or a dark horse, or is he too "successful" for the Democratic Party?

If Magic Johnson is even interested in running for the presidency he should run for governor of California first in 2018 than run for the presidency in 2024.

Last point ,I highly doubt Magic is interested in becoming any type of politician.

He is a good businessman, good public speaker. Very educated man.

That doesn't mean they would be interested in becoming governor or president.

Anyway if he wants to run for president he should run for governor first serve for at least  6 years then only should he run for president

This is ridiculous for many reasons. Even with Trump's insane amount of ignorance he was at least a vocal voice in politics before he ran. Pulling random celebrities out of a hat is not feasible especially after Trump has shown himself to be terrible at governing.

Would the USA by and large vote for gay man?

What would his path to 270 electoral votes be?

Johnson is not gay...he's married to a woman, Cookie Johnson. He has a gay son though.

She's either his beard or he's bisexual then.

This.

Magic would be a great choice to replace Maxine Waters, but I doubt he'd take that role.  I doubt he'd want to replace Feinstein in 2018,
