Of course, all establishments should be able to set their own hours. Enough of this blue law, nanny state nonsense. Some people just want to grab a beer without jesus being rammed down their throats.

Of course. Having same-set closing time just leads to having all the drunks on the streets at the very same time. Which really isn't a good idea.

Yes, absolutely.  It should be up to the establishment how long they can be open, not the government.

Never heard of one, and don't see what the point is. Why not just throw a house party?

Mandatory bar closing times don't really have anything to do with religion as much as I'm against them.

Yes it does. The US variant of protestantism is anti-drinking of the most part.

People who are anti-drinking don't care what time it happens, it's always evil. The reason is supposedly "public safety"

Well, I suppose if you're a member of those mothers who hate drunks drivers or whatever they DO believe it's for public safety. Whether it's actually effective is another matter altogether.

Wrong. Most of the early "Blue Laws" were tied to the Baptists and other moralizers. Hence why you can't get alcoholic beverages on Sunday in many areas. Of course they and others have cited "public safety" as a reason, but that's not the only one. Fundamentally, it has to do with America's puritan past and dysfunctional attitudes towards 'vice.'

Why the hell do you want a beer at 5 in the morning?

I dunno, but I dont see why you shouldnt be able to enjoy it in the bar. You wont see me supporting business rights often, as you all know, but this one seems pretty obvious to me.

People regulating when a business can be open or closed....utterly ridiculous. Even for something as stupid as drinking.

That might've been the initial reason, but it's certainly not the reason now. It's not like states like New York, Maryland and Vermont have mandatory bar closing times because they're completely ran by religious zealots.

I'ts because of no social liberals seeing that as an important issue plus a lack of any politicians who have the balls to ignore the MADD types and repeal the outdated laws.
