It depends a lot on the dog.  They can be very nice, but they can be scary, and barking dogs are very annoying when I go for walks.

FPs on balance, but far inferior to cats.

Freedom pets. We own two cats, and every day they disappoint me more. Wish I had a dog again.

I had an accident when I was little.  I was riding my bicycle and a dog began chasing me.  I lost my balance and fell on a fence.  I still have a huge scar on my knee.  I had been afraid of dogs since.

However a couple of years ago my ex got a really big dog that would climb on me every time I would visit.  We soon became good friends and I love dogs since.

Absolutely terrified of dogs like most animals. Snakes and turtles are good I guess

I really don't like them. Not a fear, more of a disgust. Probably due to never owning a pet in my life.

Much more enjoyable than cats, imo.

I dislike all the maintenance they require, plus an untrained dog no matter the size is just really unmanageable. Cats, otoh, shed hair like beasts and throw up and generally have their drawbacks, but they don't seem to require the same level of attention (and they can be really funny). A relative of mine has a cat, though, with a rare disorder that you cannot pet it. If you pet that cat, it'll attack you. In total, I guess, there's really too much b.s. with owning animals.

Snakes I can't stand, so I can't comment on that.

Massive Freedom Pets.  I come from a huge dog-loving family; we just lost our dog about a month ago and got a new one about two weeks ago.

I like cats too, but if I had to choose one kind of pet, it would have to be a dog.

FP!  The best.  I grew up with two mini-Dachshunds that look a lot like the one pictured.  Gretel passed away a few years ago but Hansel is still alive and going to be 18 in a month.

I can't bear hearing them barking, and I'm kinda pissed with their slave nature, that yeah always need attention moreover. And some who even have always been nice can suddenly turn mad and consider you as a kind of steak, apparently out of nowhere, it remains animals, thus imprevisible to us.

But well, as long as it's not mine it can always be fun to play with.

And well, to be fair, seems so far they are the only ones to be able to provides such or such services to humans, such as everything requiring sense of smell.

they're okay but they're no cats, that's for sure.

I do wish you could take cats for walks though. That's the one area where dogs are clearly superior.

FP, though I am more of a cat person. I've never had one as a pet myself and I would be very particular as to the breed if I were to ever have one. I grew up with my grandparents' dogs. One was a pit bull, one of the most gentle dogs I've ever been around, but still very much the alpha and protector of the family. The other was a mixed breed (at least part Alaskan Malamute, basically a sled dog with a heavy coat), which wasn't exactly the kind of dog most people had in the hot Sacramento summers.
