If Macron's domestic policies weren't so atrocious, I would be inclined to actually like the guy. But, at least he is doing everything within his power to ruffle Trump's feathers and get under his skin - which he has done a wonderful job of thus far, with less than 1 month in office.

Scarborough: "Bannon is the real president" after Paris withdraw

I wonder what Bannon's motivations for this (since he was in favor of the withdraw). He likely thinks that this withdraw is an effective way to implement his "economic nationalism," whatever that means. And since climate change will make (mostly non-white) developing world citizens worse-off, maybe Bannon wants another way to pummel them? Or maybe he hopes that the ensuing mass migrations will increase support for his xenophobic agenda.

I really don't think Bannon is playing five-dimensional chess here. I think he just looked at an international agreement that mildly inconveniences the United States and decided he'd seen everything he needed to.

Vladimir Putin refuses to condemn Trump for pulling out of Paris climate deal, tells world: 'Don't worry, be happy'

Speaking at the annual St Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday, Mr Putin said the world should not "judge" the US president but work out how to strike a new deal. "Don't worry be happy," Mr Putin said during a panel session at the forum. "You shouldn't make a noise about this, but should create the conditions for joint work."

"If such a major emitter as the US is not going to cooperate entirely then it won't be possible to agree any deal in this area," he added. "In my view it was possible (for the US) not to leave the Paris agreement because it is a framework deal, and it was possible to change the US obligations inside the framework of these agreements," he said. "But what has been said has been said. And we need to think what to do further," he added.

Maybe Putin can convince his pal, the Donald !

Gotta love the efforts from the states and cities to keep up the Paris climate effort.

With his decision to leave the Paris Agreement, Donald Trump has also decided to render him self politically irrelevant on the world stage. It's ironic...he wanted to look tough, but he only made himself weaker. Trying to excercise hyper-dominant masculinity will only take you so far, and it a certain point it becomes a dead end.

Sure, keep dreaming. No U.S. president is ever "politically irrelevant on the world stage."

Up to this point this was true. But not anymore.

Hackery. The mere fact that everybody is currently talking about Trump and will doubtlessly continue to do so proves that he is everything but politically irrelevant. The word you're looking for is unpopular.

Everyone's talking about Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, too. That doesn't make them politically relevant.

For the first time, allies like Canada and France are speaking to the American people as distinct from the federal government to express solidarity. That's the kind of thing we do with countries like Iran.

Jerry Brown is going to China to align California with them on confronting climate change. Increasingly foreign governments are looking to the states and 'the people' for leadership rather than our accidental president.

China Completes World’s Biggest Floating Solar Farm

This week, media welcomed the completion of what may well be the world’s largest floating solar farm, in the eastern Anhui province. The 40 MW installation sits on a flooded coal-mining town, which adds a kind of poetic element to the story – a shift away from coal and to solar and wind. The floating farm is the latest demonstration that China is serious about its green energy plans. Earlier this year, Beijing said it would splash US$361 billion on expanding the country’s renewable power capacity by 2020. By 2022, China should have 320 GW of wind and solar power capacity, along with 340 GW of hydropower.

Trump is a reality tv star and professional celebrity. (And con artist.) If nothing else, the last four months should make that very obvious. He is no more a politician than the muddy dog running about the ballroom is a dancer.

Talking about Trump with contempt over his rendering the POTUS irrelevant, hardly makes him relevant.

A bunch of deplorable idiots handing real power to a celebrity doesn't change what he is, any more than handing a toddler a shotgun makes them a hunter.  Both just become more dangerous for everyone in range.
