The Graduate

A true classic. Should be mandatory viewing upon graduation from college.

Somebody has TCM on!

As for me I saw A Good Day To Die Hard. It was atrocious.

Heh.

I'm going to have to watch the Graduate again, I didn't like it the first time.

Spaceballs.  I'd never seen it, and it had me guffawing.  A real pleasure.  They've been doing a John Candy retrospective on the satellite.

Nude Nuns with Big Guns

meh, I've seen better "bad" movies.  Was like a bad knock off of Machete (or someother Rodriguez work).

Zero Dark Thirty

They should have cut 30ish minutes from the first 2 hours of the damned movie.  It's good, sure and didn't really seem as long as it actually was, but it was still really really long.

Inland Empire

I had to spread this one out over the course of a few days. I'm a fan of all of Lynch's work that I've seen but I'm not quite sure what I think of this one. I've gotta read up on it and how every thing pieces together. I also hate that the film looks like it was shot on a home digital camera.

I like Inland Empire. Even if it made little sense to me. I read an analysis of it, but all I can remember is the last line going something like "Maybe the message is that deep down we're all prostitutes"

Which would be funny.

This may not make sense unless you read the whole article and even then it still might not:

The Master

Such a good movie. Everything about it was brilliant. It probably helps to go into it knowing that it doesn't really have an ending or a traditional plot. But it's shocking that PSH and Joaquin Phoenix didn't win Oscars for their roles. And no nominations for directing, score or cinematography? What a joke.

Well it has an ending, it's just that the ending doesn't really resolve anything. The whole plot is pretty much just "Drifter meets charismatic cult leader, becomes his right hand man, falls out with him and goes back to being a drifter."

Yeah that's true. I was actually fully prepared for something a lot more directionless (after being pretty frustrated the first time I watched There Will be Blood and hearing so many complaints about this one).

Not bad. As someone who usually dislikes PSH, he was excellent.

A cat in Paris (original title is "Une Vie de Chat").  Borrowed it on DVD and watched it with the boy last night.  We got the dubbed-in-English version, and because it's animated it didn't have the weird asynchronous mouth effect that dubbing in another language usually produces.  Some violence.  My wife grumbled about it, but I thought it was okay.  I thought he was ready to be introduced to the concept of the anti-hero.  Well drawn.  I liked the dark aspect, although I'd probably recommend it for a slightly older audience.  Maybe 5th grade and higher.

Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut

There are some things that it did better and some things it did worse than the original. Changing the soundtrack of the famous introduction scene was definitely something it did worse.

I finally saw Les Miserables.

The major iconic numbers were very well done.  Everything in between?  Meh.  It sounds weird for a 2:30 long movie, but IMO a lot of it went too fast.  For a film version, not enough effort was really taken in establishing the world.  Too many scenes felt like I was being moved from sound stage to sound stage.

It probably didn't help that I rented it to give the effect that I was watching a Broadway show in an empty theater.  Still, if it's going to be movie...

All that being said, I'm glad it was made.  It gives all the major songs quality YouTube renditions now and that's all we really needed.

I saw Ted yesterday.

Well done, I'd say.  I generally like Seth MacFarlane's works, but I think this movie is one of his best.

Children of Invention - wonderfully bleak!  So bleak it included MLM, so about as bleak as anything I've seen.

Hah, I just watched the seventh seal, if that beats that then I am depressed

I'm embarrassed to admit I've never viewed The Seventh Seal, and I also admit it sounds bleak - however, it does not encompass the ultimate in human despair - MLM.

I just watched Red Dust last night on the sattelite.  Wow, it was great - pre-censorship (1932) - very sexual, and Harlow played a clear prostitute:

MLM? So is this a movie Bushie could've benefited by watching three years ago?
