Finding Homosexual Threads in Lincoln's Legend

First, there were some fairly credible accusations of homosexuality in the life of President Buchannan, Lincoln's predecessor.

Second, Lincoln had been engaged prior to Mary Todd to Ann Rutledge.  She died.  This might have had some effect on Lincoln's desire to marry.  See http://www.lib.niu.edu/ipo/ihy950239.html

It should be noted that Buchannan was engaged, but his fiancee broke it off.
