That is quite unfortunate. Was it for political expediency or genuinely held beliefs?

I doubt supporting the mental abuse of children contrary to psychological good practice is a 'genuinely held belief ' so probably the other one.

You guys don't own the person in question nor has he ever publicly sided with you, so while you retain the right to be annoyed also remember to take a more pragmatic approach to his actions.

He's a politician. I expect weasel positions from politicians so I'm not actually that fussed
