Because basically no other metric besides polling suggests any sort of Trump landslide. Midterms and special elections. Donations and fundraising. Campaign offices and ground game. Demographics and demographic changes in key states.

I'll nominate Israel. Both nations are settler-colonial states that allow indicted genocidal leaders to return to power.
move to europe then

I suppose this would be better than the current system, but ideally the electoral college should be abolished and replaced by RCV.

Weirdly enough, this is a great result for Biden and confirms the tilt D theory of mine. There is no universe where we have a Trump+5 Gallego+5 result here. Each Senate candidate will run extremely close with their presidential ticket. Like always.

I think rescue efforts here are always going to be rough.

Weather conditions are bad (might be responsible for this crash).

This is quite a mountaineous area, forested and in foggy conditions.

People are at the end also just people.

Battista PMed me about this, and I figured it would make sense to start a thread!

Have recently gotten into this show and it's been quite indispensable, especially in this time where the world feels so bleak. It's all on YouTube as well, so quite easy to access. It's a show where various British comics have to do silly challenges, some of which involve lateral thinking.

Some favorite moments:

The best bit is when the women do their stag do. Anything Judi Love is in is funny to me.

The fact that he was a unifying figure

Quote
Dislike: Fanning the culture wars

?

I like how you snipped out the other part of that post. After 9/11, he did unify the country, and I don’t think we would have that type of national unity, if such a tragedy happened today.

If true, Bush is largely the reason for that.

Take it from someone who was actually walking the earth when this happened: he took that "national unity" and turned it into a nightmare decade of racism, jingoism and the cynical destruction of the middle class.

Race relations arguably peaked in America from like 1998-2013 which means the Bush Presidency was the only presidency where race relations were at their peak throughout .

Also Bush made it clear multiple times that he supported being inclusive and condemned racism. The culture also was not racist either as I too grew up in that decade (though I was in 6th grade when Bush left office) and did not feel things were racist at all and when it comes to pop culture I find the criticism that shows like 24 were Islamophobic to be insane.

That's your (incorrect) personal perception, but here in the real world the story is different. Muslims were scapegoated hard by Republicans and this was part of the fearmongering against Obama later on.
Also lol at you making the cutoff 2013. Race relations were better when people weren't complaining about police shootings.

Eh, it's still far out and while not a great sign, Rs led in multiple polls leading into the final week of the elections in 2020 + 2022. R+5 this far out in my mind is still a tossup.

What's more worrisome is that there still isn't any clear strategy being enacted by the Biden campaign to turn this ship around.

Trump and Mcsally definitely did not lead in most 2020 polls. Almost all polls from march/april going forward had Biden ahead.
