Tough call. The good Burton/Depp movies are fantastic, but there's a more consistent goodness with Scorcese/Dicaprio.

Write in: Scorcese/Pacino.

Well, I don't really like Burton movies, and DiCaprio is an amazing actor.

Burton/Depp.

Scorcese/DiCaprio tend to have one similar, good type of result. When a movie or character doesn't work, that usually means  it's gonna get real boring.

By contrast Burton/Depp has given the peaks of Ed Wood, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, and Edward Scisscorhands...and the valleys of Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory [however Depp was the only thing that went wrong with that movie which was leaps and bounds ahead of the one only remembered because of Gene Wilder]. But even those valleys tend to be hilariously bad.

Better question: What about Zemeckis/Hanks or Spielberg/Hanks?

I'm a fan of the Alfred Hitchcock/James Stewart pairing that resulted in classics like Rear Window and Vertigo. If we're talking Scorsese I think his best pairing is with Robert DeNiro (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas).
