Menendez has another ad out now. It's pretty good. The smear campaign on him hasnt hurt him at all according to the SV poll. Now that hes on the airwaves, he should get his poll numbers up later in september. Heres one on security: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AitascP7VQ
and this one on ethics and his history: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq5X7gUWpyE This is his youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/menendez2006

Neither is great and neither is horrible.  The ethics ad should have sourced the prosecutor quotes.  A counter ad could also come back to bite him in the butt, if it is well done.

The security ad is better, but would have been even better if it showed some port security activities.   You have to walk a fine line to not insult a potential voting block when you talk about stopping foreign countries from taking over ports.  It is also misleading in saying that the ports would have been sold to a foreign country.  Management rights would have been sold to a foreign company.

I was watching The Office last night (on WNBC-TV here in New York), and I saw one of these.  It's not that bad, but it's not great either.

That's why it was a six-point in Kean's favor from last month

Whew, sure would like to see what a bad month produces

I have to say, these are some of the worst ads ever, or at least the one I saw today was:

My favorite:

"Bob Menendez is too on corruption, he even wore a bullet-proof vest"

What does that mean?  Wouldn't that be more crime than capitol corruption?

If Bob Menendez tries to make the race about corruption, he's smoked

He quoted the newspaper the quotes were from but should have included more I suppose. The company was a state company so therefore its selling the rights to a foreign country.

Hes within the margin of error. He has only +4. None of this 6 point anything matters. He wont have a bad month unless he gets indicted which he wont because he didnt do anything and they will wait until after the elections anyway and then just drop it entirely.

I have 5 million reasons why Bob Menendez can still win this race. The number five million represents the cash on hand advantage Senator Menendez enjoys over Kean Junior. We all saw how effective the well-placed ad buys of Rick Santorum and Ben Cardin were in boosting their respective polls numbers.

Unless the NRSC or the RNC step in, for every dollar Junior spends, Menendez will spend $3.50. That will play a large role in this race, because NYC and Philly TV costs is so expensive.

Actually, that's mostly what counts, haven't you ever heard of poll swings?  Are you that blindly partisan you still think Menendez is the favorite?

Again, dumb, look at the history of poll swings, and again no it doesnt really matter on the outcome matters. If someone goes from 38 to 44 and loses the election 47-53, then that swing did a lot.

A swing in Tom Kean Jr.s favor hurts Bob Menendez, you really have a problem w/reality don't you, just admit TKJ is the favorite.

Even if you think Menendez will win, Tom Kean Jr. is the favorite w/o question

Kean is a slight favorite. What worries me about his chances is that he's running on two things, his father's name and his liberal views on the issues. After listening to an NPR report on Kean, my Dad thought he was a liberal Democrat.

Once the voters find out about Kean's record of quid pro quo deals, his support for the Bush agenda and that he's not his father, this race will swing to Menendez.

The only Republican challenger in America leading a Democratic House or Senate incumbent is running as a Democrat.
