Discuss with maps

I have no doubt this map is very misleading - searching for Afghan language maps or Afghan ethnic maps gives conflicting results, especially regards classifications of Tajiks and the Indo-Persian non-Pashtun speaking groups.

To what extent is there a common identity of Afghan-ness relative to say more specific ethnic identities? I know that Afghanistan as a polity has existed for a while, no?

Bumping this because I actually wonder does anyone here know this.
