Where did you get that map? As for it being possible in the future, I suppose it will be if the Republicans nominate a much more liberal/populist candidate than the Democrats. The Democrats will thus win the South in addition to traidtional Democratic states while the GOP would win everywhere else. Also it would help if the GOP nominee was from California and the Democratic nominee from the Deep South in this scenario.

I'd love to see this just as an experiment for complete party platform just to see which states are blindly Dem and GOP, or which ones are issues-oriented.

The Republican would have to be pro-choice, promise to raise taxes, pro-gun control, pro-affirmative action, pro-gay marraige, among others.

the Democrat is fiscally conservative, pro-life, promise to lower taxes, pro-2nd amendment, anti-rehibilitation, anti-gay marriage amontg others.

My guess is this:

Looks alot like 1976 doesn't it?

It does actually. However, in 1976, weren't Ford and Carter the same on all the main issues? I really don't think they had any differences between them.

They may not have. I think Ford was pro-life, but I could be wrong on that. The electorate of 1976 was more malleable, whereas today's is more sharply polarized, as a result of hot-button issues. It would take a major switch in both parties to make the map look like this.

Actually, Ford was pro-choice during the election campaign. I think he became pro-choice after Roe vs. Wade in 1973. I don't think there were any other differences between Ford and Carter during the campaign.

I like this one.

Not a real one, obviously, but I think we can see something like this one day.

Don't know why I had to make Wisconsin stand out. I just thought one day, they will give the middle finger to all the states around them.

It won't be possible for a long time. You have your traditional GOP states like ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, ID, WY, UT, and AK. Then you have your traditional Democrat states like MA, RI, NY, HI, DC, and MD. Never know though. I see some states trending to the right and left though.
