To me, the biggest blunder of David Camerons career was scheduling the Brexit vote during the European Football (Soccer) Championships where nationalism was sure to be at peak levels.

Now, fortunately the olympics are not going on at the same time as the election, but will any of the candidates momentarily get a small "olympics" bounce in the polls? Has this been studed in the past? Surely nationalism plays an even greater role in this election than in the previous elections that I can recall. Will that benefit Trump? On the other hand, Trumps success is fed by fear and the Olympics may make people feel good and proud of their country, which might benefit a more feel-good (comparatively) candidate like Clinton.

Depends on if there is violence there. The Olympics themselves? Probably not.

Maybe it helps TRUMP if ISIS commits a terrorist attack, or less likely, a BLM activist flies to Brazil to shoot at cops.

But at the end of the day- The Olympics is about 200+ different countries with very different politics and cultures miraculously coming together in a spirit of meritocracy and sportsmanship, not hate and fear. We are stronger together.

Benefits the person who does not make outlandish political attacks since people don't want to hear about politics during the Olympics

The only Olympic "bounce" I can recall (if even that) was 1984.  The L.A. Olympics almost seemed completely choreographed by the Reagan re-election team.  Reagan was there for the opening ceremony.  And with the Soviet bloc boycott, the American result was only matched by Reagan's landslide in November.

It's hard to see how anyone but Trump could benefit.

The Rio Olympic Train Wreck has been advertised in advance.  When something goes wrong, it will be viewed as a failure of Globalism.  Silly?  Of course, but that's how the mood is now.

Clinton, but very, very little.
The Summer Olympics shows unity of all nations on our small planet.
Unity and cooperation .... ideas that are attached more to Hillary, and opposite of Hitler's .... I mean trump's ..... rhetoric.

True. Some people tune out of politics during the summer Olympics, and then after Labor Day, people tune back in.
