For years, most of the Holocaust survivors who are most involved internationally in the culture of remembrance of the Shoah have called for solidarity with Palestinians. (One of them I have quoted in my signature)
I know quite a thing about the culture of remembrance because I worked at the best institute for Holocaust research in Germany (Fritz-Bauer-Institut).
There is also currently a wave of solidarity among many Holocaust survivors with the inhabitants of Gaza. This is stronger internationally than in Israel, but the fact that these people do not live in Israel does not negate their experience or make them lesser Holocaust survivors.
