IN the past few days or weeks I should say Republicans have been critical of Obama's Iraq stance saying that he is out of touch with the Iraq war and that he opposed the surge which they say is successful and in not acknowledging the success he does not have the judgement to lead the nation.
Obama recently said that he thinks the surge is successful and applauds our men and women in harms way, but that this war distracts from the enemy in Afghanistan.
I have a problem with the criticism first of all. In Obama's defense you really can't claim to "support the surge" because that would be tantamount to supporting the war from the start ((quick to a scene in a John Wayne movie after the enemy is defeated and we are all dancing and smiling and forgetting all about how the Iraqi people have a long history and a single surge might not completely finish off the job but the gov't will have to take responsibility sometime down the road(which by the way the Bush/McCain admin is against)) and he was wrong on going into Iraq in the first place in which would be a BillO wet dream.
The coming Iraqi gov't timetable for withdraw is something that McCain is going to have to address and he will have to subliminally change his "position" and people will say that he was against timetables and now he has a timetable etc...
Do you think Republican criticism is justified?
