Democratic Candidates: Round Table Discussion with Tim Russert
Quote

Based on experience, I am. As a lawyer, former Secretary of State, Governor, Senator and now, one of the Democrats running for president, I know how the political machine works. It's now evident that America is comfortable with Evan Bayh with these new endorsements like Sen. Obama. Now, I will still ensure transparency, all papers will be released to the public detailing my records and that's my way, as of now, to beat President Giuliani

Quote

For me, I would switch to the popular vote system but we cannot leave our 220 year old tradition. Currently, some states are pushing for the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact in which we can still keep the electoral college in some states and the states which will join together to pass the compact will award all of their electoral votes to the popular vote winner.

It would be a Republican health care, not a bipartisan health care. I think even as a Democrat, Mrs. Rice has good intentions, she wouldn't be a puppet. She can independently decide. And most of these new appointments were only a campaign tool for Giuliani to boost his support, even hiring Mr. Muir of ABC News as his press secretary. Defense, ok, but we need a stronger one.

Definitely, his plan is good but we cannot be sure about future attack in the next years, withdrawing most of them is good but leave a small amount of troops to watch out for any military crisis. However, as Mrs. Lincoln said, the President won't even follow.

Quote

A C, his plans were good but it's not substantial enough to solve the problems of America. His achievements, as someone says quote, can fill up a box and the same as his mishaps. We cannot last another four years of this Republican empire, it's time for something new, a change.

√ CLINTON PREVAILS IN NEVADA RECOUNT

January 22, 2008

Hillary Clinton came out on top in the Nevada Recount. The win is the first for Clinton, who narrowly lost the New Hampshire Primary to Howard Dean. The campaign is hoping that this win will put her back in the running for the nomination. Currently Clinton is running second nationally and in Florida behind Evan Bayh. As of this point all three remaining candidates have each won a state wide contest.

Nevada Caucuses Recount: 100% Reported
√ Hillary Clinton: 37.34%
Evan Bayh: 37.07%
Blanche Lincoln: 24.59%
Other: 1.00%

Sen. Bayh acknowledges the results. Congratulations to Sen. Clinton, who made a very successful campaign.

I've heard historians say our landmark civil rights legislation, was the responsibility of Presidents like John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, and Congressional leaders like Sam Rayburn, John William McCormick, Mike Mansfield and Everett Dirksen. But they couldn't do this on their own. They needed Civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers and others to browbeat those on the fence into supporting this legislation, to make it clear our African-American community, all our minority groups just wouldn't take the extreme discrimination any longer. While race relations are far from perfect today, the fact people could seriously talk about candidates like Barack Obama for President or Vice-President today shows we've come a long way since the 1960's and an even longer way away from dark days of slavery.

TV Ad: Time for Change

It's the same stories every day. Another Giuliani crony. Another problem or lack of action.

I'd like to change that. When I worked in Washington, I was a problem-solver who never forgot where she came from.

At the Gates Foundation, I oversaw a multibillion dollar charity that put new roofs over the heads of students and new technology and knowledge at their fingertips. We opened a public defender office in 50 cities that were lacking, and helped cities update gravel roads that cause costly repairs for hardworking Americans.

I'm running for President for you, not for the red carpet. Not for big donors. I'm running to make sure you have a voice in Washington.

TV Ad: Choices

[Lincoln is sitting in a simple chair, speaking to the camera]

LINCOLN: We've all fought so hard in four years to keep the nation from continuing down the path of total war and paranoia. We've seen time and time again that President Giuliani didn't say a single honest word four years ago, and promise after promise is broken.

In the upcoming primary, we have plenty of choices. But there's only one real choice: the choice to win. With my background and leadership as an executive and a U.S. Senator, I know I can steer America to without getting us lost at sea. This caucus is about who is at the wheel, and you get to show America who to pay attention to. So I'm asking you to vote for me. I know I'll do you proud.

NARRATOR: For more information and to talk to your neighbors about caucusing for Blanche visit, www.voteforblanche.com/

Web Ad

The campaign has produced web ads that air when someone in watches a video on YouTube. One ad promotes voting for Blanche, highlighting her support for women and her 5-point anti-poverty agenda for America. A second web ad, micro-targeted to videos watched mainly by the 18-29 crowd, focuses on Blanche's support for college students (student loan reform, tuition reform, more Pell Grants) and universal healthcare. All videos include a link to www.voteforblanche.com/

Statement from Lincoln Campaign

Blanche thanks Hillary Clinton for airing an ad with a tacit endorsement of Blanche's candidacy. At this time, Blanche is still endorsing herself.

Hillary's still endorsing herself, that hasn't changed... and in any case these ads were designed not endorsement of Senator Lincoln, but a backhanded attack on Senator Bayh.

White House Press Secretary David Muir on This Week with George Stephanopoulos

"Normally, the White House Press Secretary stays out of Electoral disputes but I've just got to say this. That Clinton Ad made no sense. She essentially said there isn't a dime of difference between herself and Senator Lincoln - I think that that will hand the primary to Senator Bayh. If Hillary Clinton can't find differences between herself and Blanche Lincoln, I doubt that the voters will be able to. The ad is essentially telling voters to vote for Evan Bayh, because he's the candidate who's cut from a different mold. Regardless of who the Democrats nominate, President Giuliani feels confidant in his re-election prospects."

Note to David Muir; Attacking Senator Lincoln was not the point of the advertisement. If anything it's an indirect highlighting of the voters chance to make history by nominating a female candidate, or has the fact that there are two women running slipped you're mind?

Lincoln Press Statement
Jan. 25

"Good afternoon. We are here today to address the issue of America's longstanding trade embargo with a nation ninety miles away. Cuba.

Before Florida Democrats go to vote on Tuesday, I feel it is my duty as a candidate for President to address this issue. Five years ago, Senator Evan Bayh said that he would support ending this embargo, not for the families of Cuban immigrants, but for the pocketbooks of farmers in his home state. This kind of political cynicism casts a pall on our great democracy; democracy our brothers and sisters still in Cuba do not know in full. He wants to end the embargo so his constituents can make an extra buck. I want to work for the immigrant families that have been torn apart, and help them find each other and find home.

I am here today to announce that as President I will require an absolute end to Cuba's damaging travel practices, and their willingness to split hardworking and loving families apart, before this embargo is lifted. Cuban Americans deserve an ally on their side, and I will be that ally.

--Lincoln repeated this statement of policy and contrast with Sen. Bayh in all Spanish-language newspaper interviews--

The Lincoln campaign circulated this article to all media outlets following Lincoln's press conference on Jan. 25

--Lincoln repeated this statement of policy and contrast with Sen. Bayh in all Spanish-language newspaper interviews--

The Lincoln campaign circulated this article to all media outlets following Lincoln's press conference on Jan. 25
COUNTERATTACK (even late) (Jan. 26, 2008): Sen. Bayh wished to end the embargo to benefit all Americans not only in his state but for the sake of the Cubans. Fidel Castro acknowledges this and he believe that our relations in Cuba will be better if Evan Bayh is on the Oval Office.

In the said news article, which was incomplete, lacking in details, only made for those who opposes the senator, Sen. Bayh also wants to help AMERICAN FARMERS and not only those who are in Indiana but he believes that this is by the discretion of their respective senators.

His decision may attracted votes from 2004 but this is no way for his state to be the only one being benefited.

He believe his job is to help the state of Indiana. According to http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/06/opinion/06LINA.html, Senator Conrad is not the only American politician to have shown an interest in Cuba. In April, Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa came to promote agricultural products from his state. Senator Max Baucus came in September with farm leaders from Montana; Senator Evan Bayh came last month to sign food accords advancing the agricultural interests of Indiana.

This statement will be released also in all Spanish-language newspaper interviews as an counter attack.

Statement: Evan Bayh's Campaign
Jan. 27, 2008

The new ad of Hillary Clinton doesn't encourage voters to vote for her but also for Sen. Lincoln. Of course, Mr. Bayh is still endorsing himself and pointing out the statement that Mr. Muir about that ad, is the same of his opinion.

January 30-Feburay 5, 2008

The race for the Democratic Nomination is heating up, as the candidates venture into the Sunshine State for the all-important Florida primary. At this point all three remaining candidates have won a primary, and Florida is seen as the make or break for the candidates, in terms of determining credibility into Super Tuesday. Evan Bayh held a narrow lead over Lincoln and Clinton, but both have been pouring all their resources and efforts into the state.

Ahead of the primary there was some controversy over a Clinton Campaign ad that highlighted both Clinton and Lincoln and the historic nature of their candidacies. White House Press Secretary David Muir commented on the ad, saying 'it made no sense' and that it was likely to help Bayh. The Clinton campaign rebutted Muir's comment.
