Fresh air? Try locking the dog in a cage on top of a car for twelve hours and letting it stand in its own feces. Mitt Romney truly is a disgusting, heartless human being.

That is not what happened. Apparently it was an air-tight kennel so that the dog would get air only through the grills facing the back of the car. Traveling in the kennel was just like traveling inside the car for the dog with the window pulled down except more comfortable because Mitt's five boys and wife were taking up all of the seats in the car. Contrary to popular opinion, Mitt did not and does not travel by limousine.

The dog may have had an accident, with Mitt underestimating the dog's ability to hold it, but anybody who says the family did not love that dog is obviously not in the family. I am sure Romney and his sons and wife can attest to the fact they loved it and took good care of it.

If this is really all you can come up with on Romney, clearly this election is going to soon turn into a clear-cut referendum on Obama. I suggest looking for more.

Yeah and dog's don't have that reaction from liking fresh air... you do realise how you just make Romney seem even worse with your 'defending' of him... even Phil's (love ya Phil) knee-jerks over Santorum are more reasonable.

Have you ever owned a dog? Sometimes they have accidents where they go places they normally do not go because you were unable to let them into the wild, or forgot to attend to them. It happens every now and then.

You guys are hilarious. And posting a picture of Obama in a limousine with his dog, and saying that's how responsible dog owners travel? LOL! I know the Obama Team is contemplating using John Edwards' "Two Americas" rhetoric, but getting chauffeured around in a limousine is not how responsible dog owners travel. Can you say, "limousine liberal"?

You realise the President of the United States can't exactly hop in his minivan and drive around to his heart's content, right?

You realize the Obamas know nothing about taking care of that dog, right? Nothing wrong with that. But it's just silly to suggest that Obama is some sort of amazing dog owner and evil Mitt Romney made his millions by torturing 101 dalmatians.

Obama is toast if this, and the John Edwards-style populist rhetoric I have seen on here, is the best Obama supporters can come up with. I know sequels generally suck, but following up "hope and change" with this sequel? Really? That would be the worst sequel since The Godfather Part III. Or Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Part II, for us animal lovers on here.

I'm baffled as to how you've drawn that conclusion.

They have better things to do. At least Barack certainly does. If Michelle actually raised the dog on her own and is caring for it entirely on her own, I am sure we would have heard about it by now. It would be super cute if the children took care of it, though. I like Obama's family. They are a huge asset for him, IMHO, just like Ann Romney is for Mitt.

When we take our dog on a trip, we let him out every once in a while.  I suppose mittens thought that he couldn't be bothered with that.

I am sure they did this during bathroom breaks, or filling up at the gas station. Nobody goes twelve hours without stopping once. Also, apparently this happened around 1980ish, long before minivans or big SUVs came around. You try driving around in an early 1980s automobile with five boys, a wife and a big dog from Boston to Michigan. Do you really think Romney would have ever joked about this sort of thing if he was a cruel dog owner? Use some common sense. Take off the partisan blinders for a minute.

The dog had an accident. It happens. End of story.
