Nixon for sure.

1968 was a watershed election, the Democrats had been in power for 8 years, the Vietnam War was raging, and new leadership for the nation was needed.

Nixon had the ability and the experience to provide new leadership, including what appeared to be a reasonable plan, at the time, to bring the troops home from Vietnam.
