Big thing to keep in mind is that labor force participation rate was nearly ten percentage points higher then.
That's why the "drop" in UE in May was widely panned by the media and economists today. Half a million Americans stopped looking for work, which was responsible for basically 100% of that .3% drop.
You really can't compare those years to now.
Im also surprised that you as a socialist bernie supporter are taking this side.
