Atlantic Canada: the place where the ideologies are made-up and the parties don't matter.

In Atlantic Canada, NDP is center-center-left, Liberals are center and PC is center-center-right.

Thought the NDP candidate leading isn't dreadful former leader Lorraine Michaels, but Gerry Rogers, the only other NDP incumbent running this time, in St John's Centre.

Seems PC is becoming the Northern and Western St. John's Suburbs Party.

In Burgeo-La Poile, Liberals are at 98% of votes.

EDIT: Down to 97% now.

Quidi Vidi is my second favorite riding name (or partial riding name in this case) after Tobique-Mactaquak.  Name a riding Mactaquak?  You must be either Qua(c)kers of Quidi(ng) me!

Talking of Quidi Vidi, NDP now leads there (as in St Johns. Centre).

PC leads:
Cape St. Francis
Conception Bay East - Bell Island
Topsail - Paradise
Mount Pearl North
Ferryland
Exploits
Fortune Bay - Cape La Hune

There have been some provincial elections in Quebec where in 99% anglophone d'arcy McGee riding the Quebec liberal candidate beat the PQ with close to 99%

Liberals got 96% in a duel in a by-election in 1979, but, on general elections, they never got more than 92%.

Higher than D'Arcy-McGee. Wow.  I suppose both the NDP and PC candidates there were paper candidates from away?

Its worth noting that just two elections ago in Newfoundland it was the PCs who won almost every seat and the reduced the Liberals to 3 seats. in fact some of those ridings that went over 90% Liberal were PC held just a few years ago.

Well, one: Torngat Mountains (Liberal candidate: Danny Dumaresque Tongue). The other two went Liberal in 2007.

French coverage of the election said he lost investiture races in 6 ridings before being selected in Conception Bay.
