Justin Trudeau challenges Scott Brison.
Another election, another chance to form government - or at least, Official Opposition - missed. At least according to Justin Trudeau, the young, handsome, charismatic Montrealer challenging Scott Brison from the LPC's left. The son of long-time Prime Minister Pierre Eliot Trudeau, Justin Trudeau is hoping to snatch the leadership of the LPC away from Brison, drive the party to left, and hopefully win back some of the voters lost to the NDP since 2003.
Justin Trudeau was born for this.
Justin Trudeau - MP for Papineau - the son of former Prime Minister Pierre Eliot Trudeau, Justin Trudeau has spent his entire life in politics, giving him more experience than his 40 years and boyish looks would lend one to believe. He's challenging Brison because he believes Brison is too far right on economic issues. Trudeau calls for a return to the Liberal Party of his father: aggressively fighting in Quebec for the support of federalists, a left-leaning economic platform and progressive social policy, such as marijuana legalization. He thinks a centrist course is no longer the right move, as ex-Progressive Conservatives could move to Conservative Party now that Kellie Lietch is attempting to move the party closer to the center.
Scott Brison's job isn't done.
Scott Brison - Incumbent LPC leader, MP for Kings-Hants - Brison believes that his job isn't done. He points to the decent Grit result in the 2012 federal election, and says charting a centrist course is the Liberals' best chance to win. He believes that most left-wing voters are already loyal supporters of the NDP, and that there's no way to get them back.
