Is that actually common in the US these days?

Certainly isn't here. Obviously it's also much, much more difficult to get a gun here as there's no second amendment and the laws are relatively strict.

In my seat (marginal seat that is called part of the 'red wall' despite being a Labour-leaning marginal for most of its history - points for the person that guesses which seat!) I'm voting Labour - not massively enthusiastically. I generally would vote tactically against the Tories - so Lib Dems where they were the lead party; Greens in Waveney Valley.

Ukrainian mainstream media is already reporting it.

"Syrskyi said he had already signed documents "that will allow the first French instructors to visit our training centers soon and see infrastructure and staff."

"I believe that France's determination will encourage other partners to join this ambitious project," the general said, without disclosing further details.

Paris has not yet made any official statements.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said in late May that "there are countries who are training soldiers on the ground already," without naming any specific countries or provide any further details on their purported operations in Ukraine."

By 'crushing' protesters, presumably he wants the military to intervene by shooting protesters in the leg and cracking their skulls, if his rhetoric in reaction to Black Lives Matter protesters provides any clues.  I am sure he would not be averse to having National Guardsmen shooting down student protesters -but unlike in Kent State in 1970, this won't be a panicked reaction by undertrained troops, but a calculated massacre intended to intimidate and suppress.
Vivid imagination don't you?.
But to be serious no no, this won't be a fantasized planned massacre but just cops being sent in and the protestors folding like tissue paper without a shot needing to be  fired.

Trump has a taste for violence, at least rhetorically, and given his authoritarianism and his disdain for our Constitution it is perfectly in line with what he would likely do.  I am not one of those voters who has the memory of a goldfish, so don't try to pretend like I do.

I still think Biden should counter by doing an event in red state like West Virginia or North Dakota. It can't hurt to show people you care about them. There is an old saying people want to be asked.

There's a risk of being heckled badly or even worse a very sparse crowd (Biden's not going to pay people to show up). Both of those would give that media a narrative to run with.

go to a place like Charleston or Fargo.

I'd be interested in hearing an explanation as to how someone could support a fascist dictatorship and still be a good person.

Not everyone who supports Trump supports a fascist dictatorship and Trump winning wont turn us into one either.

There is no rational basis for assuming otherwise on either front.

Explain how Trump can turn the US into a dictatorship when:

- Elections are managed at a state level not a federal one

- the Electoral Count Reform act pretty much makes it impossible for congress to throw out Electoral votes

- The US Constitution unlike Hungary is almost impossible to change

- There are midterms every two years

At worst Trump's Presidency will be how Netanyahu's premiership from from December 2022- September 2023 was like

Last night I had a dream that Trump was convicted in his New York trial. It felt so real, that I was disappointed it wasn't real for now. Even remember that the forum took great joy in calling him "convicted felon Donald Trump".
