Based on alleged increase in security costs from $3.5 million to $8 million.

Per the Commission on Debates, Hofstra in NY takes over...

“In light of Wright State University’s announcement of earlier today, the September 26, 2016 Presidential Debate will be held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. The Commission very much appreciates Wright State’s efforts. Hofstra University served very successfully as a presidential debate site in 2012. On September 23, 2015, the Commission announced that Hofstra University had agreed to serve as an alternate site this debate cycle if needed. The Commission looks forward to working with Hofstra once again.”

Does switching the debate from competitive OH to NY matter one bit?

I was pleased that all the debates this year were being held in swing states or semi-swing states (Ohio, Missouri, Virginia, Nevada). But now it's ruined. Thanks a lot, Wright State.

Unless of course, Trump puts NY in play. But I really doubt he does, although the Q poll has to be making Hillary uneasy.

Lol at the thought of Hillary's campaign caring about a random public poll, much less a Quinnipiac poll, much less a Quinnipiac poll that that shows her up double digits. I'm sure they remember how they underestimated her in every state in the primaries.

Just having a poll showing you under 50 in your home state has to invite a little worry, even if it is likely to be total junk.

It's also Trump's home state but whatever.

Anyways this is kinda interesting, but the debates are bad news for Trump regardless of location. The audience will be discouraged from making noise, so he won't be able to use any cheap talking points, and he won't be able to go silent on key topics like in the crowded Republican debates.

Unless, of course, Trump makes his participation conditional on the audience being allowed to react. Clinton could use it to her advantage too, so I could see her agreeing to such a condition.
