Civic Renewal Convention:
June 2015
Sad

After more than three months of existence and with a consolidated party,
Civic Renewal hosts its second conference!

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the second Convention of Civic Renewal!

While it is true that our first convention was not formally ended given some of the challenges faces during that time, it is now time for us to move on and hold the second convention of this party as a crucial election for Atlasia is approaching. This is our first convention facing a Presidential election, and it is pride that we can say that this is our first convention with a Presidential candidate from amongst our members as well.

This will be a rather crucial convention for us in the sense that we will have a chance to address the future of this party and enact the changes we need to move forward as an even stronger force, specially in terms of crafting our definite platform and holding a new leadership election for this party, and it is by working together as members of this party that we will be able to meet those challenges as efficiently as possible.

Here's to a successful party convention, my friends, it is time to sign in!

Well, this process can continue during the convention as we need to move forward to other events. We shall be starting with endorsements for the Presidential and Senate Election, afterwhich we will move onto the leadership elections for the next four months (I will have an announcement on that as well).

Going by the current by-laws our current Senate candidates will receive the automatic endorsement of the party for the election, which means Party Secretary Rpryor is formally endorsed as our candidate for Northeast Senate and I am also formally endorsed as the candidate for Mideast Senate.

Regarding the other Senate races and the presidential election there are no automatic endorsements, so we will have a 48 hour period starting now for candidates and tickets to request our endorsement, at which point a 48 vote to endorse will be held.

Noted, Rpryor, these endorsement motions will be put for a vote after the 48 period is over.

Thank you, rpryor. I don't want to impose, but I'd be pleased to address your convention if that's agreeable. Let me know. Either way, best of luck for a great gathering!

Thanks, Hagrid, you're more than welcome to address the convention!

I would like the CRs endorsement, if they would see it fit, for my re-election later this Summer.

Wait, I have a doubt, if the election this month?

Right, the voting is up, and with this we formally endorse the Dkrolga/Altsomn unity ticket! Hagrid and Turkisblau have also been endorsed for their respective Senate races, so congratulations!

Considering that the Northeast Election is coming soon we will also vote on that, but to go according to schedule and not have further delays we will also commence the process for the leadership election. In that sense, I'd like to begin by formally addressing the convention to, in a way, inform you of my perception and my intentions towards the future.

An address to Civic Renewal:
June 15th, 2015:

My fellow Civic Renewal members,

Almost an entire presidential term has passed since this party of ours was created as a response to the crisis in the center-right, and for the past few months I’ve had the pride of serving as our party chairman. We started this fight against all the odds, against predictions of the right being dead and gone forever, against the enormous challenges that a small party has to face against the electoral juggernauts which have dominated for so long.

We may not have won every battle, but we have achieved a lot. We have fought and done our best to revitalize the center-right and find ways to innovate in politics, and we have proved that even as a small party electoral success is possible, as we have seen with Cris’s strong campaign in the April election and Dkrol’s success in Northeast politics. Being in opposition is no easy task, especially considering the state of the parties that form said opposition. But we have prevailed against the odds, and today Civic Renewal is a player in the political situation of an Atlasia that grows very dull as we speak.

I believe the next months will be crucial to ours, for the time has come for Civic Renewal to consolidate and increase its strength as a party. We are running a unity presidential ticket to revive the opposition, just as we are running two candidates to hopefully increase our current representation in the Senate. Furthermore, this meeting of ours will provide the chance to refine our internal structure and craft a platform and a message that we shall us to continue to be a leading voice in the political spectrum.

The fight will go on and we will continue our message of renovation, and it is following that spirit that I have taken the decision not to run for another term as party chairman. I wish to focus entirely on my efforts for the Senate (successful or not), and there are many bright individuals in this party who would do a much better job than I have so far.

We will go all out to contest this election, we will renew our party leadership and we will craft a winning message for the people of Atlasia, for the fight goes on!

With my verbosity out of the way, we can being the leadership election process. We wil have a 48 hours process for our members to announce their intentions to seek the offices of Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary, afterwhich a 48 vote will follow. Then I will relinquish the leadership, and my successor will determine which part of our schedule goes forward.

The election is on Thursday Night, giving us the chance to hold a new endorsement vote from Tuesday to Thursday for those candidates not considered in the first ballot. Sawx's will be on the ballot as requested by Rpryor, and other members are invited to propose other candidates if they wish so.

Right, sorry for the delay.

With this vote Rpryor is hereby confirmed as Chair of Civic Renewal, Cris as the Vice-Chair and Dkrolga as the Secretary. With the new leadership team in place I yield the floor to them and wish them the best of luck as the election reaches it's end.

It has been an honor and a pleasure, gentlemen.

I think we can all agree on the main points Rpryor outlined, and I think it would be worth it us to add at least two: a committment to an active and engaged foreign policy, and more important, a true committment to reform of the Atlasian government (seeing as many of us have signed the ConCon petition and broadly support some kind of reform).

I also want to congratulate Dkrol on yet another great showing and Rpryor as our second Senator! These developments and these gains we've made (along with Cris's run for Speaker) prove that Civic Renewal is indeed a powerful voice for the center-right, and without a doubt the strongest one of the area as we speak.
