A lot of Trump supporters have been saying that he is going to win this November the same way he won during the primaries. He's going to brand Clinton under an inescapable, embarrassing nickname and focus media attention on himself. But what if Clinton strategists realize this - and beat Trump at his own game?

Say in a few weeks we start seeing Clinton tweets like this:

Hillary Clinton would obviously be parodying Trump tweets, right? But she is also doing something else here - branding Donald Trump with an inescapable, embarrassing nickname: Dangerous Donald. (Of course, it doesn't have to be this. Terrible Trump, Lil Don, Despicable Donald, and Authoritarian As*hole are a few others she could work with.)

Donald Trump, however, could still grab tons of media attention. He is a magnet for ratings. Clinton isn't as  much of a rating magnet. What could Clinton do? She could start channeling Donald Trump in her speeches. I'm not saying she should turn them into an incoherent mess, like actual Donald Trump speeches, but her speechwriters should put more one-liners and sound bites in them. What her speeches need is more quotable quotes that could easily make it into the headlines (for good reasons, obviously). Not only would this be beneficial to her media coverage, it would decrease Trump's media coverage and force him to resort to saying more outrageous things in order to sustain his current level of media coverage. And we've seen how well those outrageous things have done for his favorability.

One other thing Donald Trump did in the primaries that Clinton could utilize is looking like a winner. For Trump, once he got the media coverage and was leading in the polls, he wasted no time in acting like a winner. Clinton, as of June 18, is the leader in every national poll since the beginning of the month. She should start acting like it. Imagine this tweet:

This would look a lot better than Trump's latest version: doing the same to a poll that had him losing(?). Say in September, before one of the debates, there is a poll released that shows Clinton up 20 (it's an outlier). Think about Clinton touting her poll numbers, Trump-style, in the debate. Imagine her confidence throughout the campaign if she keeps winning. (She would only talk confidently. Her campaign would be a heavy multi-million dollar barrage of advertisements in various swing states.)

Is this a plausible campaign strategy? Or would backfire spectacularly? Discuss. Feel free to use maps.

No, I doubt it. Copying the style of another candidate frequently backfires and makes you look rediculous, especially with the proposed tweets. And Dangerous Donald doesn't stick as good as Crooked Hillary. TRUMP will claim that this is the proof how well he's doing ("Crooked Hillary copies Trump right now, because she wants to successull as Trump is...."). You just can't outtroll the Donald.

To be honest, I feel like she shouldn't go after Trump supporters. The Trump supporters have already locked themselves into their little echo chambers, where they can be told what to do, what to think, who to like, who to hate. They don't think their own thoughts; they think the thoughts of a few people on r/the_donald or wherever who don't seem to realize that they've basically become cult leaders. I don't think the Trump backers can even be classified as human beings anymore; last I checked, humans are sentient and can think for themselves. Clinton's best option would be to go after undecided voters and try to get out the vote more in her favor.

She already tried Dangerous Donald and gave it up... makes him sound like he's in Top Gun or something.

She seems to be hitting her stride now. She's still talking about the issues, she's still talking about unity and us coming together. I like that she is pointing out little don's faults, using his own words, and telling us what she would do instead.

I think she should just keep doing that. She is on a roll.

Maybe say something about how a woman's work is never done....and she's doing all this dragging the old ball and chain (Bernie) around with her. She is amazing.

She wins this as the serious, thoughtful, experienced candidate and by running updated Daisy Girl ads.

No, this would be extremely dumb and could easily backfire.  She wins this as the serious, thoughtful, experienced candidate and by running updated Daisy Girl ads.  Mocking Trump too much only reinforces the narrative that he doesn't actually mean what he says and therefore isn't actually that threatening.  Particularly with terrorism playing a larger role in the campaign than originally expected, she needs to always be the serious candidate, and emphasizing her relative hawkishness wouldn't hurt.

Trump should respond

#DangerousHillary wants to take out Assad while he's busy fighting Al Qaeda and ISIS
#DangerousHillary wants a no fly zone where Russian planes are flying against ISIS

You may be surprised to learn that most Americans don't like Russians or dictators, and thus outside of your delusions this would not be an effective attack on Hillary.

The world isn't black and white. You can dislike Russia, dictators, and Hillary's dangerous Syria policies.

I think only Trump can do Trump successfully. We saw this to a certain extent when Rubio tried to be like him and failed.
