$275,000 within the first 2 and 1/2 hours... I wouldn't be surprised if they raise $2 million today.

Are Paul's people going to try an armed overthrow of the government after he loses?

No, they'll just go back to playing WoW.

No, they'll just go back to playing WoW.

Never played Warcraft, and never intend to.

Although after living in college dorms for four years, I don't think Mr. Paul has a monopoly on their support. They're most likely diehard Thompson supporters. Cheesy

This past weekend I went up to Raleigh and I saw Ron Paul signs at an interstate exit. First presidential election signs I've seen this cycle.

The goal was $10 million. They're about halfway through the day and are only at $2 million. So not really that impressive.

This is interesting: http://ronpaulgraphs.com/donors.html

Even though donor maps hardly ever turn out like this, stereotypically libertarian states are giving him the most donors per capita, with stereotypically populist states the least.

Looks like that "Free State Project" in NH got SOMEWHERE.

Mississippi and West Virginia are the least libertarian states in the country per the donor list.

Sounds about right.

They'res nothing to miss, they're idiots.

So says a person who puts up a banner from a party of perennial losers whose whole strategy to gain support is to decry the ruling government for not calling an election. Yeah, that's a winner.

I'd expect him to do better in South Dakota though.

Well from Ron Paul Girl's blog, it appears the goal here is to get 100,000 people today to donate $100 apeice, adding up to $10 million, which would set some sort of fundraising record. Probably picked today because it's the easiest to remember thanks to V for Vendetta.

This graph is probably the most impressive by the way:

With these numbers,  they should end up with about $3.5 million at the end of the day at this rate. Maybe higher if donations really come in tonight. We'll have to see. I'll predict around $4 million.

Not the $10 million they wanted, but still pretty impressive. Might even set the record. Does anyone know the record for most money raised by one political candidate in one day? (Not counting donations from billionaire candidates to themselves)

I wouldn't. They're very populist. They elected Daschle to the Senate for years for example.

No, not quite. More like Montana than West Virginia. They just love pork.

SD's laws on alcohol sales and gambling are FAR less restrictive than Minnesota's. Hell Rapid City is basically the Las Vegas of the Midwest.

Kind of clever.

Anyone else notice that the NY Times graph on Paul's fundraising shows the San Francisco Bay area as his biggest pit of support.

Well 2/3 of the way he through they're at $2.4 million. That equals $3.6 million if the rate continues, but I'll stick by my prediction of $4 million assuming the trend will pick up a bit at night.

Well it appears the record for any day this election is Mitt Romney raising $3.1 million on January 8th. So Paul will likely beat that and hold the record.
