finding a Generic R is going to be a lot harder to do than finding a generic D.

Ted Cruz is the very symbol of a Generic R isn't he? It's Ted Cruz type of obstructionism and extremism that is typical to Republicans in Congress as well as for the Tea Party grassroots.

he is not.  he is very idiosyncratic to say the least, and a lot of Congressional Republicans don't like him.

this is what I mean about the Generic R being hard to find.  most of the favorites at this time (Christie, Cruz, Paul) wouldn't qualify.  Jeb would be, but the surname cancels that idea.  Rubio might be the closest thing.  failing all of that, Romney is the closest once again, though he'd start with higher unfavorables than you'd like.
