I'm only worried about the Senate race, especially if Ventura decides to run.

Don't worry. Ventura is beyond irrelevant at this point.

What are your thoughts on the Senate race at this point? I haven't been following closely, but I thought I read that Franken is in some trouble for not paying payroll taxes a few years ago?

Overestimated Kerry big time in 2004, but Star Tribune is just an awful poll in general.

There are now 2 consecutive polls that have Obama up by double digits, something we didnīt have in 2004. I think it will be Obama by 5-7% ...

Yeah, it's a bad news cycle for him. But once that passes, things should change, especially once the focus is just on hammering Coleman. Having the GOP convention here might actually be a good thing since it makes it too difficult for him to distance himself from the national GOP.

Obama will outperform Kerry by a sizable margin.  The senate race will be a nail biter.  I'd say "leans Coleman" right now, but things can (and will) change.

Not surprising.  Obama will easily win MN.

If Reagan can't win Minnesota, McCain sure as hell won't.

Whenever I run out of toilet paper in my household, Star Tribune polls make a good substitute.

Oh, come on... if you were responsible, you'd plan ahead and never run out of toilet paper.  I mean, sure, you wouldn't be able to make this cute little joke, but you'd probably end up with ink smudged all over your ass.. and it'd be Strib poll ink at that!

Why is Minnesota listed as a swing state?

Minnesota isn't up for grabs.  We're all socialist commie pinko appeasers who want to bring down America for the cause of terroristic-socialism.

Even comrade Pawlenty is in on it.  It's how we're going to subvert a McCain presidency and turn America into an Al-Queda training camp.

Why is Minnesota listed as a swing state?

Because it was within 2% and 4% in the past 2 elections. It won't be a swing state with Obama on the ballot.

Obama will win Minn by a decent margin no doubt in my mind.

However, the Star Tribune is a hack poll and always has been.  It had Mondale up over Coleman by 8 or so in 2002.  Coleman won by 3.5 I think.  it had Kerry up in 2004 by ridiculous margins.

It also had Amy Klobuchar up over Mark Kennedy by 20 points and everyone OMG LOLZ HACK POLL RED STAR COMMIE TRIBUNE!!#$!!!

And then she won by 20 points.

I think they have revamped their methodology and it has been a bit more accurate (though Obama will not beat McCain by 13 points... perhaps 6 or 7)
