Anyone who refers to the poor as sans culottes is, by definition, elitist.

By the way, every person in this country except specialized costumers and actors are technically sans culottes...I know I don't have knee breeches.

The term expanded beyond a mere commentary on sartorial matters. Tongue By the way, I was unaware of sumptuary laws until recently. How you dressed was who you were, and dressing beyond your station was a crime.
