I'm happy to support the bill and look forward to Senator Polnut's amendment.

That being said, the only part of this bill that has any teeth whatsoever is section 2. So I wonder if section 1 is even worth including. Could it be construed by some parties in the region as patronizing rhetoric?

I support the amendment. The removed line was poorly written and far too ambiguous to decipher.

The section about having a "third nation" to provide leadership to the process would also be an interesting thing for the SoEA and G.M. to pursue.

I support as well Polnut's amendment. This is a much less risky way to improve Kurdish' conditions than the former version. We cannot risk to worsen our current diplomatic relations with Turkey because of ISIS.

I support this amendment as well, yet I see no real change for Turkey in here if we still include section 3, which precisely is what got Turkey so enraged. I think we should strike that clause as well, for the sake of keeping Turkey as our allies in the struggle against the Islamic State.

Senators have 36 hours to object to the proposed amendment.

It appears the debates have ended. So, I motion for a final vote.

Sorry, but please wait here a second.

The current version is this, right:

Aren't the problems with Turkey still in this bill then, because I could imagine Turkey is not that content with clause 3 of this bill...

I think section 5 should nullify any potential objection Turkey has to section 3. There is no danger of the negotiations leading to us demanding a chunk of turkey for Kurdistan or anything like that.

No, my concerns have been answered, so I see no reason to object (anymore).

I continue to believe this does not go far enough in advocating for the Kurdish people's right to self-determination.

Nay.

AYE

I share some sentiments here that it would certainly have been preferable to do more for the Kurdish cause, yet I just don't think there is more possible given the current geo-political situation in the region... There's a second time for everything, I'd say
