Vacancy in the House: Interested Laborites Apply

After Representative Smith's election to the Senate a seat is available to be filled by the Labor Chair; myself. In the interests of fairness, openness and co-operation I'm asking interested candidates to send me a PM outlining why they want the role, what they could bring etc.

We're gonna need a primary date for the Northern Senate race, folks.

By Laws (which I need to change still) say that it must happen at least 2 weeks before the vote- I've often in the past done it off my own hand.

I'm going to start a 48 hour campaigning period now when I get back from work so I have time to open a thread/do the other necessary stuff.

Under that plan voting would begin on Tuesday 9th

I don't mean to sound impatient, but will we be getting a replacement for Clyde soon?

Yes- we've had a couple of curve balls thrown at us in party HQ in the last couple of days but we're vetting a list of people

Fact checking Time

Hmmmm, speaking of Witchhunts, I'm reminded of how Labor punishes anyone who dares to go against their mainstream, 1184AZ and Peebs come to mind in that regard. Get out of here, hypocrite.

We don't punish people in Labor. We're a welcoming family- like any family we have disagreements and like every family we work them out, and come back stronger. Ask Southern Gothic- who recently rejoined Labor, ask Peebs who I've helped back into Labor, ask Griffin who rather than ‘punishing’ me made Chair, and Truman Vice-Chair. We don’t punish people in Labor.

However, being that I do not want our party to become like the other tyrannical one (Labor), I will withdraw my motion. I understand why 1184AZ felt the need to do this, he is used to Labor, where any difference of opinion is squashed and opposed in the name of Labor Victory. Again, motion withdrawn.

You’re talking to someone who was made Chair after primarying a Labor President.

I am aware of the hateful messages Peebs  received after agreeing to be Tmth's VP, and in the Vice-Chair race certain people again expressed this.

I sent Peebs a single message saying ‘you could have at least told me’ when she declared. I didn’t send any hateful messages.

I didn’t even campaign in the Vice Chair race, and I stayed neutral for out the whole race. Both Truman and Peebs will confirm that- I didn’t even vote. Hardly the tyrannical leader.

Congrats to all the Labor candidates elected last night- we've kept the progressive majority in the House for the third term in a row. We've done a lot of great work in the House- closing tax loopholes for multi-national companies, passing a living wage, passing the LGBTQ+ civil rights bill and so much more.

Labor have also for the first time gained a clear majority in the Senate; I'm sure all members from the House and Senate will work together to usher in this new age of Atlasian prosperity.

As Rep. 1184AZ has resigned to become Deputy GM there is a vacancy in the House of Representatives to be appointed by the LNC.

I have already contacted some individuals about filling the vacancy, but if any other folk are interested send me a PM, and we'll be drawing up a shortlist.

Per discussions I've had with party members, the Labor Caucus and other LNC members we're going to be holding our primaries for the April Elections next weekend between 31st-2nd

Candidates must be declared before Friday, and only Labor members registered before this post will be eligible to vote. I'm still trying to sort out all the admin for it, so if you have any questions send me a PM

There's not any actual rule on whether only members from the region can vote in regional primaries.

I'll be closing the thread in the morning as well, and we can get all our super campaign stuff launched
