Okay Trot.

That was probably intended as an insult but I've decided to take it as a compliment nonetheless, regardless of how overrated Leon Trotsky potentially was.

Ideally, UK elections would be contested by a Thatcherite Tory Party and a Gladstonian Liberal Party. And socialism would die out.

Alternatively, you'd much prefer a right-wing military coup outlawing all opposition.

So in other words he's right, you do want a right-wing military coup to happen, no?

I don't think I'm that radical/doctrinaire, but tests like this generally exaggerate that sort of thing so no surprise.

Here's a new one:

http://pewresearch.org/politicalquiz/quiz/index.php

Here's Your Score: You correctly answered 12 of the 12 possible questions along with approximately 2% of the public. You did better than 98% of the general public.

And I'm British.. rather sad reflection.

First, you score is a good reflection on you.

Second, the normal score is a bad reflection on the so-called 'mainstream media' in the United States which supresses information which is unfavorable to its biases.

Interestingly, the British media is generally better in covering the current economic situation in the United States than the so-called American 'mainstream media,' which is part explains the increase in traffic from Americans online reading the British press.

An example in point is the results of the recent sales over the so-called 'black friday' weekend in the United States.  The American 'mainstream media' made vague assertions of how wonderful everything was (well, they adore Obama) but Reuters had the real data (which I posted in the Economics Forum).

Another example is the blackout by the American 'mainstream media' in coverage of the fraudby the Global Warming advocates.

Not long ago the American 'mainstream media' also refused to carry information on the activities of ACORN.

Well, yeah. I've always wondered why the Americans seem to use the BBC so often rather than their own media.

CARL, you forgot to mention that also most people simply don't care about politics and current affairs.  If I asked my friends and colleagues the same set of questions as that quiz, I'd hardly be surprised to find them only able to answer about half of them or less correctly.  I wouldn't judge them for that either, because I'd know that it's not a topic that's personally relevant or important to them in most cases.  This is why I don't discuss politics with almost anybody outside of this forum.  If this had been a quiz on current events in the sports world, I'd be lucky to get a score of more than 2 out of 12.

True. I doubt I'd even get 2, given how little I know about sport.

Actually, I prefer the Financial Times (I read it at breakfast), the Telegraph, the Times and occasionally the Mirror.

I primarily read the Independent, the Financial Times and the Telegraph (in order of frequency)
