I agree with many of the things that were said there, but why does there need to be a "battle", a "fight" over this? The only fights should be keeping the state secular (as it was founded), not endorsing a religion, etc. (and as of now, there's no danger of that being taken away)

Which state? At least a few of our first states, if not all, began with establishment religions.
