Well it's the end of the Socialist Party as we know it, certainly. The center of the PS will now probably all defect to REM, leaving the Hamon and Montebourg wing firmly in charge of what's left of the party.

Valls joining EM is Macron's first presidential blunder.

The second will be Bruno Le Maire.

Yeah, I imagine a collective "oh crap" just ripped through the country.

There's a nonzero chance that Valls will be Macron's PM.

Les Republicains will run on a new and more moderate platform for the legislative election instead of using Fillon's platform. While I loved Fillon's platform it's probably the smart thing to do. Fillon's platform was borderline unelectable, I think he would have had a lot of trouble getting elected even without Penelopegate. Slashing taxes by €50 billion (€40 billion for businesses, €10 billion for households) while also balancing the budget and rewriting the entire labour code isn't a very electable platform I'm afraid.

Especially in France.

He was largely ineffectual as PM, violated his oath to endorse the winner of the Socialist Party's primary and is a gutless third way-er

No. PS is fundamentally a pro-European party. Melenchon and his fan clubs are Eurosceptic.

Valls is clearly very proud of his party...

All three are (nominally) members of the PS...but only one has any red on his poster, let alone the party logo. Shameful.

Valls is no longer member of the PS, the Mennuci poster is a fake posted by Mélenchon.

Despite not being the PS candidate for his district and declaring his party dead, he's still technically a member.
