It's amazing how much the debate over the Confederate flag has changed. Back in 2001-2003 I remember the Democratic Governor of Georgia tried to change the flag, and it caused such a huge stink it cost the Democrats the Governorship. The new flag was tossed out and replaced with a GOP alternative. The flag change proponents were incompetent too, because the replacement they proposed was aesthetically terrible and roundly criticized. Now it's like night and day.
