One election cycle where you didn't do as good as history suggests you should does not = resurgence

There is nothing in the definition of the word "resurgence" that says that it has to be sustained for a significant period of time to be a resurgence.

They exceeded my expectations and probably the expectations of most predictors, although not significantly.

But, no, that's not what it implies.  It implies what the word means, which is a surge (which tend to be sudden) back.  A resurgence doesn't have to be unexpected.  That's...non-sense.

Do you honestly believe that the Democratic Party would have disbanded had they not taken back Congress in 2006, or are you just misusing the word "dismembering"?
